1313This is the latest release of the stable branch, for Linux 2.4.10+. This is a stable release with support for most devices except the newest ones. Userspace tools support 2.4 and 2.6 kernels. Device drivers are for Linux 2.4 only, for Linux 2.6 they are coming with the kernel itself. Most third party monitoring applications need the library from this version at the moment.

1616 * IBM Thinkpad users [source:lm-sensors/trunk/README.thinkpad should not install] this version.
1717 * You will need to install the [http://linux-diag.sourceforge.net/Sysfsutils.html libsysfs library] (or a dev package from your distribution) if you want support for Linux 2.6, because libsensors now depends on it.
18  * If you are using Linux 2.4, LM Sensors 2.10.4 requires I2C 2.9.0 or newer.
     18 * If you are using Linux 2.4, lm-sensors 2.10.4 requires i2c 2.9.0 or newer.

3939This is a release candidate for the completely reworked package from the development tree, for Linux 2.6.5+. It supports all the devices your kernel supports, as it no longer contains chip-specific code.
